More than 10,000 Palestinian children have been arrested, detained, abused, and prosecuted by Israeli security forces in the Israeli military court system since 2000. Independent monitors such as Human Rights Watch and Israel’s B’Tselem have repeatedly documented that children are subject to abuse and, in some cases, torture — specifically citing the use of chokeholds, beatings, and coercive interrogation.

Representative Betty McCollum, Democrat of Minnesota, has led the efforts to shine a light on the terrible mistreatment of Palestinian children in the Israeli military detention system. In April 2019, she introduced H.R. 2407: Promoting Human Rights for Palestinian Children Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act. As of August 2019, only 22 members of Congress cosponsored the resolution. Please contact members of congress to request that they add their names and cosponsor this important resolution.
